Laboratory Services
On-site laboratory testing through Path24 in Sasolburg and Ampath in Phalaborwa.
Many consultations call for laboratory testing to confirm a diagnosis or track a condition over time. Primecare Medical Health Centre offers on-site laboratory services at both our practices.
Having laboratory services available on-site means fewer separate trips for patients, particularly when a consultation and a test can reasonably be handled in a single visit.
How do laboratory services work?
Our Sasolburg practice offers laboratory testing through Path24, while our Phalaborwa practice works with Ampath. In both cases, samples are collected on-site and sent for processing, with results shared with your practitioner as soon as they are available.
What tests are available?
The specific tests available depend on what your consultation requires, and may include blood tests, urine tests, or other diagnostic screening as recommended by your practitioner.
How should I prepare?
Some tests require fasting or specific preparation beforehand. Your practitioner will let you know if any preparation is needed ahead of your appointment, and you are welcome to ask questions about the process at the time.
Getting the results
Once your results are ready, your practitioner will go through them with you and explain what they mean for your ongoing care. Where a result needs further investigation or a specialist referral, this will be discussed with you as part of that conversation.
Results are treated as part of your confidential medical record, and are only shared with you and the practitioner managing your care.
